Is there a rationale for quick diets? Well, sure there is! Haven’t you had something come up on you that you had not expected and suddenly you wanted to lose a few pounds before that event occurred. For example, a relative suddenly calls you and tells you they would like to visit you in 2-3 weeks. Or, your friend calls you and tells you they are getting married next month. We have all had these things happen and we all wanted to look our best before those events occurred.

But, do we really need a rationale for looking for quick diets? Shouldn’t we be able to go on a quick diet just because we want to? Do we all have to go on one of those nutritional diets that will take months to lose the weight that we want to lose? Do we all have to go on a diet that requires you to do daily exercising? Well, I don’t think so!

I started looking at various quick diets simply because I wanted to. I wanted to lose 20 lbs fast. I wanted the weight to be gone – to be over with.

Not all quick diets are bad for you. The diets that I sponsor in this blog are nutritional and they will help you lose weight quickly. And, no you don’t have to exercise. Now, I’m not saying that exercising won’t help you lose weight, because it will. I’m just saying that exercising is not required.

So, if you want to lose weight quickly, try one of these diets in this blog. Maybe you have a rationale for losing weight, and maybe you don’t, just try one of these quick diets to lose weight.

Food cravings on a quick weight loss diet are part mental and part physical. All dieters experience it. In part, you crave foods because your brain remembers the pleasure you had the last time you ate those foods. But, research has also shown that when you are craving food, certain neurological pathways are opened up in your brain in the same way that certain drugs (such as cocaine) can open up these pathways. When you have a “food flash”, you are experiencing the same cravings that recovering drug addicts experience.

The smell of food can sometimes be harder on your system than even the sight of food. Haven’t you ever walked by a bakery or cafe and the smell of food ignites your cravings? It can be disruptive while on a quick weight loss diet. You have to pinch yourself and think,”those are only calories that I don’t need.”

Fortunately, there are other ways to open up those neurological pathways in your brain besides drugs, smells, and food. Here are three of them:

1. Meditation – Meditation relieves stress. Meditation feeds your soul and when your soul is full, you can withstand a lot of temptations. Any type of meditation is helpful.

2. Exercise – Even in small amounts, exercise can relieve stress. Exercise heightens your ability to take more control over daily activities – both physically and mentally. And, you don’t have to exercise to the point of exhaustion. Research is starting to indicate that three 10-minute workouts can be better than one 30-minute workout.

3. Laughter – Laughing is helpful on a quick weight loss diet. It’s hard to laugh and eat. Besides, laughing relieves depression, anger, and stress. So, keep several funny videos nearby or play funny games with friends and family.

The next time you experience a food craving, channel your craving into one of these three nonfood alternatives – exercise, meditation, or laughter. These will help you while you are on your quick weight loss diet.

Let’s face it, many of us weigh too much and are looking for a fat loss secret. We are bloated, feel uncomfortable, and have a difficult time fitting into the skirt we bought last year. I know because I was in that same situation.

If you are on a quick weight loss diet, stay away from diet soda. Instead, drink these 5 things:

1. Milk

Milk contains a serious amount of calcium and calcium helps to break down fat. Now, this does not mean to go out and drink gallons of milk, but drinking 3-4 servings of milk per day can seriously help you lose weight. Studies have shown that you can lose 30%-70% more weight by drinking some milk while on a quick weight loss diet than those who don’t.

2. Ice Cold Water

You can burn at least 200 extra calories a day by drinking ice cold water. When you drink ice cold water, your body will burn calories by digesting fat to warm up that liquid to your normal body temperature. A study in Germany showed that drinking ice cold water will speed up your metabolism by at least 30% and that drinking 1.5 liters per day will cause you to lose an extra 5 pounds per year.

3. Vegetable Juice

Drinking vegetable juice before eating dinner will cause you to eat an average of 135 calories less for dinner according to a study done at Penn State University.

4. Green Tea

Drinking green tea increases your metabolism while on a quick weight loss diet. Drink 3-5 cups per day will increase your metabolism by 35%-43%.

5. Whey Protein

Whey protein (a by-product of making cheese) causes your body to release appetite suppressing hormones that help curb your appetite. In a recent study at Cal-Berkely, people who drank whey protein 90 minutes before their dinner were allowed to eat freely at a buffet. They ate significantly less than those that didn’t drink the whey protein.
