It’s forecasted that by the year 2020, 3 out of every 4 people will be considered obese. That’s scary and should cause you to think about losing pounds.

Researchers at the University of Utah did a study with three groups of people. One group was instructed to drink 4 cups of water per day, another 8 cups, and the last 12 cups.
The researchers found that the groups drinking 8 or more cups of water per day had greater weight loss and reported higher levels of concentration and energy levels. The study found that drinking lots of water increased the body’s metabolism.
In fact, in a more recent study, they found that the cooler the water was when it was consumed, the higher the metabolism levels were and the longer they lasted. The assumption was that the body was consuming additional calories to warm the water up to the average body temperature of 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit.

Researchers have found that nearly 2/3′s of Starbuck’s customers are buying blended coffee drinks instead of plain coffee. There is a huge calorie difference in these two drinks. That’s a huge difference and a lot of potential weight.

4. Water is important on most quick weight loss diets. It helps to flush your system out and helps to make your skin youthful.
Drink at least 80 ounces of water per day and drink some water before each meal – it helps your metabolism.
5. Plan your meals ahead of time and not at the last minute. Most quick weight loss diets do this for you. It’s important not to wait to the last minute to do this or you’re likely to be grabbing things that are not good for your diet. You’ll be amazed at how much better you’ll eat by planning ahead.
It’s amazing what science can do and how quickly things are changing. I read an article on Yahoo the other day that may make a big difference in the quick weight loss diet. It’s not here, yet, but it may be one day soon.
The story I read was about the two types of fat that your body has in it – white fat and brown fat (I never knew there was more than one type of fat!). Most of the fat in the human body is the white fat. White fat stores calories. But, up around the neck of the human body is a type of fat called brown fat. Brown fat burns calories. There is only a small amount of this brown fat in the human body.
Now, wouldn’t it be a marvelous quick weight loss diet if you could somehow increase the amount of brown fat in the human body? Well, that’s what a group of European scientists have been trying to do at the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg. And, with mice, they have had some success!
Using an enzyme called cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), mice were injected with this enzyme which caused their white fat cells to act more like brown fat. Their white fat cells started consuming calories and the mice dropped 20% of their weight!

Fowler and her associates at the University of Texas Health Science Center, they found that there was a huge increase in weight gain by those who regularly drink die soda.
“There was a 41% increase in risk of being overweight for every can or bottle of diet soft drink a person consumes each day,” Fowler says.
Their study included 1,550 participants, ages 25 to 62. The study was done over an eight year period. Following are the results of that study:
For regular soft-drink drinkers, the risk of becoming overweight or obese was:
26% for up to 1/2 can each day
30.4% for 1/2 to one can each day
32.8% for 1 to 2 cans each day
47.2% for more than 2 cans each day.
For diet soft-drink drinkers, the risk of becoming overweight or obese was:
36.5% for up to 1/2 can each day
37.5% for 1/2 to one can each day
54.5% for 1 to 2 cans each day
57.1% for more than 2 cans each day.
It’s not all that surprising that those that drank regular diet soda gained weight, but it was a huge surprise that those that drank diet soda gained so much more weight. And, I know this will be surprising to many readers who have drank diet sodas while on a quick weight loss diet.
It’s not exactly known why drinking diet soda leads to so much weight gain, after all, there are no calories. One theory is that the human body is much smarter than what we think. When sweet tasting diet soda is consumed, the taste buds send a signal to the human brain telling it to look out for what it perceives to be a high calorie intake. When the human body doesn’t find these calories, the body lowers it metabolic rate. Lower metabolism leads to greater weight gain.
Just a theory and medical studies are still being done to find the exact reason.
Once again, this study goes to show that the best thing to drink when on a quick weight loss diet is water. Nothing is better than water.

A new study published in the March 8th issue of Archives of Internal Medicine reveals that women can lose pounds of unwanted weight by consuming light-to-moderate amounts of alcohol.In fact, women who drank one-to-two drinks per day were 30% less likely to gain weight than their teetotaler counterparts.
The study was performed by Dr. LuWang, an epidemiologist with the division of preventive medicine at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston. A total of 19,220 women were studied over a 13 year period. All of the women were 39 years of age or older.Previous medical studies of alcohol and health benefits have been somewhat mixed. Some studies show that moderate consumption of alcohol reduces heart disease, especially in men. But, another study revealed that moderate drinking increases the risk for breast and liver cancer.In this study that was done over a 13 year period, all groups tended to gain weight over such a broad time frame, but for those that drank alcohol, the weight gain was much less. And, amazingly, the more the alcohol was consumed, the lower the weight gain.Reasons why women can drink alcohol and still lose pounds cannot be fully explained at this time, but researchers suggest that it may have something to do with the way women metabolize alcohol.“The impact of alcohol consumption on body weight needs to be considered in the context of energy balance,” Wang explained. “Among women, those who regularly consume light-to-moderate alcohol usually have a lower energy intake from non-alcohol sources. On the other hand, alcohol intake tends to induce increased energy expenditure beyond energy contents of the consumed alcohol in women.
