Increasing metabolism is the key component to any quick weight loss diet. After all, if you are overweight, that means you have more fat in your body than your body needs. After sleeping all night and resting, the water enhances your metabolism and wakes it up. Your body will actually burn more calories if you drink cold water because the body tries to warm that water up. Drink eight 8-oz. glasses of cold water per day.

3. Don’ Skip Breakfast – Eating breakfast wakes up your digestive system and gets your metabolism going again. If you don’t eat breakfast, your body senses starvation and your metabolic rate will slow down.

4. Drink Green Tea – Boost your metabolism by drinking green tea. Green tea contains catechins and caffeine. Drink two cups per day and you’ll burn an extra 50 calories per day. That doesn’t sound like much, but it all adds up on a quick weight loss diet.

5. Eat Plenty Of Proteins – Your body will burn twice as many calories digesting proteins than it will digesting carbohydrates or fats. Proteins are harder to digest. This will boost your metabolism. So, eat plenty of fish, chicken (skinless), lean beef, beans, skim milk, and eggs to keep your metabolism running.

6. Add Spicy Foods – Hot peppers, jalapenos, and Chile will boost your metabolic rate. Add some of these spices to your food.

7. Stay Away From Sugar – Not only because of the high calories, but because sugar contains high levels of insulin which signals the body to store unused energy as fat.

8. Get Plenty Of Sleep – Sleep deprivation can make you feel hungry and leads to overeating, even when you don’t want to. This makes staying on a quick weight loss diet a challenge. Adults need between 7-9 hours of sleep every night.

All quick weight loss diets vary the methods and process for losing weight, and they all should. After all, each one is slightly different than the other one and it’s important to follow the diet plan that’s outlined on your particular diet.

But, in general, there are some common themes in most quick weight loss diets. Following are five of these themes:

1. Your body’s metabolism is important. Any quick weight loss diet is going to concentrate on speeding up your metabolism. But, there are different ways to do it. Drink at least 80 ounces of water per day and drink some water before each meal – it helps your metabolism.

5. Plan your meals ahead of time and not at the last minute. Most quick weight loss diets do this for you. It’s important not to wait to the last minute to do this or you’re likely to be grabbing things that are not good for your diet. You’ll be amazed at how much better you’ll eat by planning ahead.

I’ve had two of my best friends to take my advice recently and they both learned how to lose weight fast. They both had to, they were up against deadlines.

JoAnn is 24 years old, 5’6″ tall and weighed 151 pounds. Her wedding day was only 5 weeks away and she wanted to lose 26 pounds before that special day. I knew that the average diet would never get her close to her desired weight so I recommended Fat Loss 4 Idiots!

So, what happened? Well she didn’t achieve her desired weight, but she did come close! When I watched her walk down the wedding isle she weighed 128 pounds – a 23 pound loss.

Thinking about losing weight and going on a quick weight loss diet? If that’s what you’re thinking about doing, stay away from diet sodas while on that diet.

Surprisingly, medical studies have shown that drinking diet soda will cause you to gain more weight than if you were drinking regular soda. In a study done by Dr. Sharon P. Fowler and her associates at the University of Texas Health Science Center, they found that there was a huge increase in weight gain by those who regularly drink die soda.

“There was a 41% increase in risk of being overweight for every can or bottle of diet soft drink a person consumes each day,” Fowler says.

Their study included 1,550 participants, ages 25 to 62. The study was done over an eight year period. Following are the results of that study:

For regular soft-drink drinkers, the risk of becoming overweight or obese was:

  • 26% for up to 1/2 can each day
  • 30.4% for 1/2 to one can each day
  • 32.8% for 1 to 2 cans each day
  • 47.2% for more than 2 cans each day.

For diet soft-drink drinkers, the risk of becoming overweight or obese was:

  • 36.5% for up to 1/2 can each day
  • 37.5% for 1/2 to one can each day
  • 54.5% for 1 to 2 cans each day
  • 57.1% for more than 2 cans each day.

It’s not all that surprising that those that drank regular diet soda gained weight, but it was a huge surprise that those that drank diet soda gained so much more weight. And, I know this will be surprising to many readers who have drank diet sodas while on a quick weight loss diet.

It’s not exactly known why drinking diet soda leads to so much weight gain, after all, there are no calories. One theory is that the human body is much smarter than what we think. When sweet tasting diet soda is consumed, the taste buds send a signal to the human brain telling it to look out for what it perceives to be a high calorie intake. When the human body doesn’t find these calories, the body lowers it metabolic rate. Lower metabolism leads to greater weight gain.

Just a theory and medical studies are still being done to find the exact reason.

Once again, this study goes to show that the best thing to drink when on a quick weight loss diet is water. Nothing is better than water.

This study might also show the importance the metabolic rate has on a diet. A new study published in the March 8th issue of Archives of Internal Medicine reveals that women can lose pounds of unwanted weight by consuming light-to-moderate amounts of alcohol. In fact, women who drank one-to-two drinks per day were 30% less likely to gain weight than their teetotaler counterparts.

The study was performed by Dr. LuWang, an epidemiologist with the division of preventive medicine at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston. A total of 19,220 women were studied over a 13 year period. All of the women were 39 years of age or older. Previous medical studies of alcohol and health benefits have been somewhat mixed. Some studies show that moderate consumption of alcohol reduces heart disease, especially in men. But, another study revealed that moderate drinking increases the risk for breast and liver cancer. In this study that was done over a 13 year period, all groups tended to gain weight over such a broad time frame, but for those that drank alcohol, the weight gain was much less. And, amazingly, the more the alcohol was consumed, the lower the weight gain. Reasons why women can drink alcohol and still lose pounds cannot be fully explained at this time, but researchers suggest that it may have something to do with the way women metabolize alcohol. “The impact of alcohol consumption on body weight needs to be considered in the context of energy balance, ” Wang explained. “Among women, those who regularly consume light-to-moderate alcohol usually have a lower energy intake from non-alcohol sources. On the other hand, alcohol intake tends to induce increased energy expenditure beyond energy contents of the consumed alcohol in women. Taken together, regular alcohol consumption in light-to-moderate amount may lead to a net energy loss among women.” So, what significance does this study have on this Quick Weight Loss Diet website? Eating garlic is nutritional and flavorful and it can also help you lose 20 lbs. Or, eat it to lose any amount of weight. Let me tell you why.

Garlic has been eaten for health reasons for over 4000 years. The ancient Chinese, Egyptians, and Greeks were aware of the health benefits they received from eating garlic and would eat this herb at nearly every meal. Garlic is known to help prevent heart disease, it lowers cholesterol and triglyceride levels, and helps to fight off cancer and infections.

In recent years, it has been found that eating garlic will also help you to lose weight. Garlic contains allicin and that’s the source of garlic’s strong smell. But, it’s also what helps make garlic a wonder food.

If you are thinking about starting a quick weight loss diet, consider these tactics before you begin:

1. Be sure that the diet plan you choose has food selections that you’ll enjoy. You won’t stick to a diet plan if you don’t like the food.

2. To lose a pound of body weight, you have to lose 3,500 calories. That means, you either have to intake fewer calories or burn more.

3. Your metabolism burns your calories. You can speed up your metabolism by either exercising or shifting your diet patterns so that the body naturally burns more.

4. Three solid meals per day is not the way to lose weight. Women should eat five meals per day and men six. Frequent eating increases your metabolism (we just discussed this), increases your energy, reduces hunger and food cravings, provides a steadier blood sugar and insulin level, increases absorption and utilization of nutrients, and reduces storage of body fat. Get away from three meals per day.

5. Yo-Yo dieting is going on and off of a diet again and again. This usually leads to an overall weight increase. If your going on a quick weight loss diet, ask yourself how long can you do it. If you can’t stay on it long enough to achieve your goals, select a different diet plan.

6. Select a desired weight that is healthy for you. Our bodies change over time. You probably never will fit into that bikini that you wore 10 years ago. Be realistic.

7. Keep your motivation up. Remind yourself that being overweight leads to diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease. Being overweight is not healthy.

8. It’s usually easier to stay on a diet if you have a spouse or friend to do it with. In fact, it’s even better if you have three or four friends to do it with. Each of you will be able to provide each other support.

Following are some of the suggestions that I have given them: 1. Commit to losing weight Losing weight takes effort. It’s effort that only the person that wants to lose weight can give. Record not only what you eat, when you eat, and how much you eat, but also your hunger level before you ate and what emotions you may have been experiencing at the time. This will help you discover some of your food triggers. 3. Stay active You can lose weight by only dieting, but staying active will energize your metabolism and help you to burn more calories. To lose one pound of weight, you have to burn 3,500 more calories than you intake. Staying active will help you do this. Exercising will certainly help you to burn more calories and exercising also provides other health benefits. But, most of us hate to exercise. So, at least increase the amount of walking that you do. Walking is an aerobic exercise. Walk continuously for at least 30 minutes per day, 5-7 times per week. 4. Focus on being healthy, not just thin Focus on foods that will help your body’s health and not on foods that will just help you lose weight. You will benefit most with long term weight loss by focusing on your health. A healthy body is a lean body. 5. Find emotional support You have to be responsible for your own weight loss, but it helps to find others that will support and help you. They will listen to your concerns and feelings, provide useful feedback, and perhaps even walk or exercise with you. 6. Eat slowly Most competitive eaters eat very quickly. The reason they do this is that it takes your body about 20 minutes to tell your brain that it is full. Competitive eaters can cram a lot of calories into their body inside of 20 minutes. Slow down and enjoy your meals. Savor the tastes and give your body a chance to tell your brain when it’s full. 7.
