Losing weight is not easy, but it’s certainly not as hard as many might think. Losing weight means eating smarter. Here are six easy food swaps that’ll help you to lose 20 lbs or more:

1. Swap out that tablespoon of butter that you put on your toast each morning with a light butter spray such as I Can’t Believe It’s Butter – Light. This light butter spray has 70% less saturated fat, no trans-fat, and no hydrogenated oil. Best yet, you really won’t believe it’s not butter and you’ll save 5 lbs. of weight per year!

2. Forget those two tablespoons of mayonnaise that you put on your sandwich. That’s artery clogging fat! Replace it with 1 ounce of a well ripened avocado and spread it on the bread. It’s delicious! And, you’ll save 150

calories per sandwich. Do this 4 times per week and you’ll save 10 pounds of weight per year.

If you wanted to lose 20 lbs of weight, that’s 15 pounds with these first two simple food swaps.

3. Don’t use two slices of bread on your sandwiches – make them “opened face” with one slice of bread and you’ll save 10 lbs of weight per year.

4. Exercise portion control with your snacks in-between meals. Stop eating those prcessed snacks. Ditch these for snacks that are higher in fiber and higher in protein. Pistachio nuts are an excellent example. You can eat 30 pistachios and you’ll consume only 100 calories. Cut 100 calories per day off your snacks and you’ll save 10 lbs in weight.

(Be cautious about some nuts. Some nuts have three times the calories compared to pistachios.)

If you had wanted to lose 20 lbs in weight, that’s now 35 lbs with only four of these food swaps. Two to go!


5. Swap regular ice cream for low-fat ice cream. Some regular ice creams have more than 300 calories per half-cup serving while low-fat ice creams have about 120 calories.

Be cautious about ice creams that say they are lower fat. Reduced-fat ice creams have just 25% less fat. Light versions have about 50% less fat and low-fat is the lowest calorie choice and has only 3 grams of fat per serving.

Some people just don’t like ice cream with lower levels of fat. I’ve tried many with less fat and my favorite is Edy’s low-fat ice cream. There are many different flavors and Edy’s is just my personal favorite.

If you ate ice cream an average of two times per week, you could save nearly 10 lbs of weight per year by eating low-fat ice cream.

6. Now, the liquid calories. Swap sodas and fruit punch with water and unsweetened tea. Not only will these speed up your metabolism, but by making the swap you’ll save nearly 15 lbs in weight just from the calorie loss.

Sometimes, you may want something with a little more flavor than what water or tea gives you. If you do, reduce calories by drinking reduced sugar fruit juices. Look for those that have 50%-or-less in sugar and calories. These fruit juices don’t taste like watered down versions and they’ll still give you 100% of their vitamins.

Well, that’s six food swaps and 60 lbs in weight loss! You’re still eating the same amount, but now you’re eating a little smarter.

I’ve had two of my best friends to take my advice recently and they both learned how to lose weight fast. They both had to, they were up against deadlines.

JoAnn is 24 years old, 5’6″ tall and weighed 151 pounds. Her wedding day was only 5 weeks away and she wanted to lose 26 pounds before that special day. I knew that the average diet would never get her close to her desired weight so I recommended Fat Loss 4 Idiots!

So, what happened? Well she didn’t achieve her desired weight, but she did come close! When I watched her walk down the wedding isle she weighed 128 pounds – a 23 pound loss.

It’s amazing what science can do and how quickly things are changing. I read an article on Yahoo the other day that may make a big difference in the quick weight loss diet. It’s not here, yet, but it may be one day soon.

The story I read was about the two types of fat that your body has in it – white fat and brown fat (I never knew there was more than one type of fat!). Most of the fat in the human body is the white fat. White fat stores calories. But, up around the neck of the human body is a type of fat called brown fat. Brown fat burns calories. There is only a small amount of this brown fat in the human body.

Now, wouldn’t it be a marvelous quick weight loss diet if you could somehow increase the amount of brown fat in the human body? Well, that’s what a group of European scientists have been trying to do at the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg. And, with mice, they have had some success!

Using an enzyme called cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), mice were injected with this enzyme which caused their white fat cells to act more like brown fat. Their white fat cells started consuming calories and the mice dropped 20% of their weight!

That’s amazing! If fully developed, this would certainly be a different type of quick weight loss diet.

You can’t survive only by drinking water, but it can make a big difference if you want to lose weight quickly. Besides being calorie free, the more water you drink the less you will want to eat. Drink lots of water, it’s nourishing to the body.

Did you know that when you were born, your body was made up of about 70% water? And now, assuming you’re an adult, your body is still made up of 50-60% water. Bones are 22% water, blood is 82% water, and your muscles are 74% water. That’s why your body does funny things with water that you consume.

Most people no longer consume much water. That’s why, when this happens, your body stores what little water is consumed. This precious body liquid is stored within the body and a few extra pounds are added on to your overall weight.

That’s one reason why it’s so important to drink lots of water if you want to lose weight quickly. The body senses the intake of additional water and relaxes the need to store water. So, if you’re on a quick weight loss diet and are drinking a lot of water, you’ll lose additional pounds.

Another interesting thing about drinking lots of water is that it will increase your concentration and help you to maintain your diet to lose weight quickly.

The first thing you should do in the morning after you wake up is to drink 1-2 glasses of water. Do it before you eat. And, drink at least one glass of water before every meal you eat. The water wakes up your digestive juices and fills up some of that empty space in your stomach.

Include watermelon and tomatoes in the meals that you eat when your dieting. Besides being nutritious, they’re 95% water.

There are some foods you want to avoid while looking for quick weight loss. Try to avoid or limit the intake of the following foods:

1. Hydrogenated Fats – Hydrogenated fats are plant and animal fats that have been chemically altered with hydrogen to give the fats a longer shelf life. Unfortunately, these fats were once applauded for being healthier for humans, but over time it’s been found hydrogenated fats increase heart disease. Avoid health bars because while they may contain a lot of nutrients, they also have a lot of hydrogenated oil.

2. High Sugar Containing Foods – Often these foods have a high sugar content and are low on nutrients. We want the nutrients to be healthier, and we certainly don’t need all that sugar on a quick weight loss diet.

3. Saturated Fats – Saturated fats are contained in a lot of food made from animals. Stay away from bacon and ground beef. Also, avoid eating the skin on your cooked chicken (I know, my favorite part, too!). Don’t use lard, margarine, or even butter. Substitute whole dairy products with a 1% or fat free variety.

4. Convenience Foods – High convenience restaurants and “boxed foods” are usually high in hydrogenated oils, sodium, and calories. Not ideal for quick weight loss.

If you are on a quick weight loss diet or thinking about going on one, you probably have some concerns about your health. After all, staying healthy is more important than losing weight. But, you can stay healthy and lose weight by using any one of the quick weight loss diet programs posted on this page – that’s why they are posted here. Check them out. Each one is slightly different. My favorite one is the Fat Burning Furnace, but that’s my own personal preference.

Even if you’re not on a quick weight loss diet, there are certain types of food that you should eat every day to stay healthy. These foods are inexpensive and here is a list of them:

1. Whole Grains – Eat whole grain products such as whole grain bread, pasta, and cereal. Whole grain products are made by using the whole kernels of grain – both the inside and shell of the kernel. Processed flour removes the outside shell making it whiter, but also removing 90% of the nutritional value. The USDA recommends three doses of whole grain foods every day. Recent studies suggest that whole grains reduces the fat storage in your abdominal regions, thus, flattening your belly.

2. Nuts – Nuts such as almonds, walnuts, and cashews are especially good for you. These are high in natural fiber. Fiber slows down your digestive system so that you are less likely to want a snack between meals.

3. Yogurt – Not just any type of yogurt. Make sure that the label says that the yogurt contains “active cultures”. Active cultures insures that you’re getting healthy probiotics. Or, in other words, that you are consuming healthy bacteria that will help your digestive system. Also, choose yogurt that is high in vitamin D so that it helps you to strengthen your bone tissue and prevents osteoporosis.

4. Garlic and Onions – The stronger they smell, the better they are. Garlic and onions have been used for thousands of years for medicinal reasons. They reduce symptoms of asthma and the chances of developing stomach/intestinal cancer.

5. Leafy Greens – You knew this one had to be there. Leafy greens, such as kale and Swiss chard, are high in nutrients such as folate and are high in vitamins A and C. These greens reduce the chance of getting many kinds of cancer, diabetes, and high blood pressure.

Eating these 5 types of food on a daily basis won’t lead to any quick weight loss, but they will help you trim your weight and lead you to a healthier lifestyle.

Key to quick diets are the food choices that you make. Obviously, since you have put on weight, your going to have to give up on some of the things that you have been eating. Making the right choice on foods to replace what you are giving up determines how quickly you can lose weight. Here are some things that diet guru’s have to say:

1. For quick diets, the experts recommend eating lots of fruit, vegetables, and wholegrain cereals. These are all high in fiber which reduces your hunger so you don’t feel like eating as much.

2. Drink lots of unflavored water. Water helps nutrients and vitamins to flow naturally into the cells of your body. For every pound that you weigh, you should drink at least 1/2 ounce of water per day. So, if you weigh 200 lbs., you should drink a minimum of 100 ounces of water per day.

3. High calcium levels are needed for quick diets. Calcium enables your body to burn fat faster. Normal dairy products (like milk and cheese) are high in calcium, but stay away from these! Instead, use soy based products (such as soy milk). Also, eat a lot of salmon or sardines. These are high in calcium. As a last resort, use calcium supplements and also take Vitamin D. Vitamin D helps the body to absorb calcium.

4. Stay away from fatty products. Consuming too much fat is why many of us gain weight. No more than 25% of your daily calorie intake should be from fat. And, the fat that you do consume should be non-satured fat.

5. Stay away from products that contain sugar. Besides the high calories, sugar causes your body to excrete chromium and chromium is one of the minerals you need to build lean tissue.

You have to evaluate the food groups that you have been eating and decide which of those food groups have caused you to gain weight. Once found, you have to replace these food groups with other choices that are healthier for you.

Eating less is not the answer for quick diets. It rarely works. It’s too hard to stay on a diet that’s based solely on eating less. Pretty soon you will be back eating the way you were and your body will quickly put back on the weight that you may have lost.

I know it’s not easy to evaluate what things you have been eating and determine which ones have caused you to gain weight. And, it’s not easy to determine what to replace those food groups with. But, it has to be done.
