Besides making us look bad, belly fat makes you stand out in a crowd and breaks your self-confidence. But the most frustrating part about belly fat is that trying to lose it is like trying to break into a bank vault. Do you want to know why? Well, here are 3 reasons:
1. Unbalanced Hormones
If you have belly flab, one hormone that you are likely to have to much of is called cortizol. The stress that belly fat causes to the human body causes it to generate additional cortizol. Guess what? Cortizol causes your body to store additional fat cells. Hello?!
In addition, if you have been consuming the wrong kinds of food, your body will generate insulin which is a fat-storing hormone and turn-off glucagon which is a fat-burning hormone.
2. Your Fat-Burning Furnace Is Out Of Whack
If you need to lose a lot of belly fat, you probably think that you need to reduce the number of calories that you are consuming for a long period of time…correct? DEAD WRONG!
Reducing the number of calories that you are consuming over a long period of time causes a nutrient deficiency. This causes the brain to send signals to the stomach to eat more which causes “food cravings”. The problem is, you will likely eat more but it is likely to be “nutrient-dead” and those food cravings just continue (that’s why on some diets where you are trying to lose pounds you feel hungry all the time).
The human body is an incredible machine. After dieting for about 1 week, the human body starts fighting back by reducing your metabolism…it starts shutting down the system that burns fat. Even worse, the human body now starts generating a hormone called leptin which is a “hunger” generating hormone. It’s telling your body to eat more.
