I recently ran across an article written in Time (Magazine) on Yahoo that supports the quick weight loss diet called the Fat Loss Secret. Here it is, take a look at it.

Pretty interesting, huh? This article was written about the scientific studies that were made from scientists at Emory University, Cornell University, and the University of Colorado.

Their studies revealed that mice and humans “harbor a universe of bacteria – the so-called gut microbiota – that may play an important role in whether your body will store the food you eat as extra pounds”. They found that mice that had too many of these “gut bugs” were 15% heavier than mice that had normal levels. These same mice also ate 10% more food.

They explain that this happens because the “bugs” were lacking a certain protein that causes inflammation to occur. This inflammation signals the promotion of a condition called the metabolic syndrome which, in their words, “causes weight gain, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol levels and a higher risk for developing diabetes and heart disease”.

This ties right in with news that we have reading in recent years – news about the increase in diabetes, heart disease, and a heavier society.

These are all things that Dr. Suzanne Gudakunst told us about in her quick weight loss diet called the Fat Loss Secret. She identified these reasons to be the cause of obesity and her diet provides a remedy to this problem.

Eating garlic is nutritional and flavorful and it can also help you lose 20 lbs. Or, eat it to lose any amount of weight. Let me tell you why.

Garlic has been eaten for health reasons for over 4000 years. The ancient Chinese, Egyptians, and Greeks were aware of the health benefits they received from eating garlic and would eat this herb at nearly every meal. Garlic is known to help prevent heart disease, it lowers cholesterol and triglyceride levels, and helps to fight off cancer and infections.

In recent years, it has been found that eating garlic will also help you to lose weight. Garlic contains allicin and that’s the source of garlic’s strong smell. But, it’s also what helps make garlic a wonder food.

Allicin is not present in garlic in its natural state. It is formed only when the garlic is crushed and exposed to air. That’s why a whole bulb of garlic has almost no smell. But, crush that bulb of garlic and smell the difference.

Using garlic to help you lose those 20 lbs only works when it is eaten crushed and raw. Cooking garlic destroys the allicin. Now, eating cooked garlic is delicious and has many other health benefits, but much of its benefits towards weight loss are lost.

The allicin that crushed garlic contains helps you to lose weight in two ways. First, allicin helps your body to release unwanted fat from your body’s cell walls. And, secondly, allicin helps your body’s nervous system to release a hormone called adrenalin which increases your metabolism. An increase in your metabolic rate means more fat will be burned. That’s why many of the quick weightloss diets promote menus with crushed garlic in them.

Garlic crushed through a garlic press will have more allicin than garlic chopped with a knife. Raw, crushed garlic is delicious on soups, salads, dips, and marinades.

If you have a concern about you breath after you eat garlic, chew on fresh mint, parsley, lemon or orange peel, or fennel seeds. This will help.

Waking up your metabolism is key to any quick weight loss diet. For those that are not sure what metabolism is, it’s basically the engine inside your body. When you consume food, your metabolism either burns that energy, or stores it as fat for future use, and turns what it can’t use into a waste product.

4. Consume a lot of garlic. Garlic may help to keep vampires away, but it most definitely helps the body from storing fatty deposits. Garlic is also a natural antibiotic, destroys bacteria, and helps to cure many ailments.

Many people want to know how to lose weight fast, but thy don’t take the time to truly learn how to do it. And, that’s somewhat understandable. There is so much “garbage” written about fast weight loss, how do you know what to believe.

There are two answers on how to lose weight fast. The first one involves your metabolism versus calorie intake. Simply put, to lose weight you have to burn more calories than you intake. Either you have to starve yourself, or you have to eat a lean, well balanced diet.

There are two problems with this. Number one, nobody likes a starvation diet and figuring out and maintaining a lean, well balance diet can be time consuming and difficult to do. And, number two, to lose weight fast you have to speed up your metabolism. That usually means a lot of exercise. Very few people will do this.

Is there any other way to speed up your metabolism? The answer is, “Yes”! The human body produces hormones for storing fat and another hormone for burning fat. If you decrease the fat storage hormones and increase the fat burning hormones, you can lose weight fast with minimal exercise. The secret to these hormones is in the what, when, and how you eat. The second answer on how to lose weight fast involves your intestines and bowels. ALL humans have parasites in their intestines and bowels. These parasites normally assist your digestion process. But, sometimes, just like you can catch the “flu bug”, you can get certain types of parasites in your system that are not good for you. These harmful parasites will plug up and bloat your system. If you are thinking about starting a quick weight loss diet, consider these tactics before you begin:

1. Be sure that the diet plan you choose has food selections that you’ll enjoy. You won’t stick to a diet plan if you don’t like the food.

2. To lose a pound of body weight, you have to lose 3,500 calories. That means, you either have to intake fewer calories or burn more.

3. Your metabolism burns your calories. You can speed up your metabolism by either exercising or shifting your diet patterns so that the body naturally burns more.

4. Three solid meals per day is not the way to lose weight. Women should eat five meals per day and men six. Frequent eating increases your metabolism (we just discussed this), increases your energy, reduces hunger and food cravings, provides a steadier blood sugar and insulin level, increases absorption and utilization of nutrients, and reduces storage of body fat. Get away from three meals per day.

5. Yo-Yo dieting is going on and off of a diet again and again. This usually leads to an overall weight increase. If your going on a quick weight loss diet, ask yourself how long can you do it. If you can’t stay on it long enough to achieve your goals, select a different diet plan.

6. Select a desired weight that is healthy for you. Our bodies change over time. You probably never will fit into that bikini that you wore 10 years ago. Be realistic.

7. Keep your motivation up. Remind yourself that being overweight leads to diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease. Being overweight is not healthy.

8. It’s usually easier to stay on a diet if you have a spouse or friend to do it with. In fact, it’s even better if you have three or four friends to do it with. Each of you will be able to provide each other support.

Losing weight is not easy. It takes determination. Any diet is difficult, so consider these tactics before you choose a quick weight loss diet that is right for you.

Fast food chain Taco Bell is following suit with Subway to market their fat loss secret. Taco Bell’s new spokesperson, Christine Dougherty, claims she lost 54 pounds by ordering off of Taco Bell’s new “Fresco” menu five-to-eight times per week. If you haven’t seen the commercial on TV, watch this video:

These claims are similar to the one’s made by Subway’s spokesperson, Jared Fogle. In 2000, he claimed he had lost 245 pounds by making healthy choices at Subway. I think we all found that hard to believe, but it has never been disproved.

Taco Bell’s Fresco menu, or Drive-Thru Diet menu, consists of 7 tacos and/or burritos that range in 150-340 calories per serving and under 9 grams of fat. That’s certainly better than their 700 calorie Beef Grilled Stuffed Burrito. But, be advised, fresco in Spanish means “no sour cream”.

The big fat loss secret to Christine’s story, although untold, is that she reduced her calorie intake to just 1250 calories per day. Anybody will lose weight in the long run if they reduce their calorie intake to this level. So, after two years, it’s not surprising that she lost 54 pounds.

What will be interesting to see is what effect this campaign will have on Taco Bell’s sales. When Subway first promoted their weight loss program, their sales increased by 700% during that first year of their campaign. How much do you think Taco Bell’s will increase by?

The best thing about this story is that it does indicate a change in what fast food chains are offering on their menus. While not totally healthy, it’s certainly better than what most of them have been offering up to this point.

Taco Bell’s Drive-Thru Menu now offers food selections with less calories, but it’s not a quick weight loss diet menu. The problem with diets that just rely upon less calorie intake is that they take too long. It took Christine two years to lose 54 pounds. Two long years!

You can still lose pounds and still eat dessert on a quick weight loss diet. You just have to know what things are best to eat while on a diet. If you are like me, I just love desserts. A meal without a dessert is just not a meal. The best desserts to eat while on a diet are desserts made from fresh fruit. These fruits include apples, cherries, grapes, pineapple, pears, mangoes, oranges, peaches, plums, watermelon, cantaloupes, grapefruit, plums, and tangerines. Stay away from bananas and dried fruits such as raisins and prunes. Also, stay away from fruit juices because most of them have added sugar. Fresh fruits are the key. Posted below is a great video on some fruit desserts that are terrific to eat while your trying to lose weight on one of those quick diets. I do want to point out that if you do use chocolate chips, as they do in the video, try to use a sugar-free chocolate. Chocolate is known to reduce cardiovascular disease and blood pressure. But, portion control is important if you’re going to lose pounds.

Many people will tell you that a quick weight loss diet is unhealthy for you. That is just not true! As long as you are eating a well balanced diet, losing weight quickly is not unhealthy. In fact, getting rid of those extra unwanted pounds as quickly as possible is the best thing you can do for your body.

If you are overweight, it means that your body is storing more fat than what is healthy for you. It will affect you health, your looks, and your ability to get around. This additional weight puts added stress on your body and can permanently reduce your long-term health. Your body will never fully recover from even brief periods of being overweight.

The more recently developed quick weight loss diets offer you a well balanced diet while at the same time getting you to eat foods that will increase your metabolism. These diets increase your fat burning hormones that enable you to lose fat quickly.

Myths are created about the most recent quick weight loss diet. Today, I read an article printed by the American Heart Association that painted a negative picture about these diets. In the article, it said:

1. Many of the quick weight loss diets, such as th Cabbage Soup diet, “overemphasize one particular food or type of food”.

2. That they “violate the principle of eating a nutritious, well balanced diet”.

3. That they “violate a second important principle of good nutrition: Eating should be enjoyable. These diets are so monotmous and boring that it’s almost impossible to stay on them for long periods of time”.

4. These diets “don’t encourage physical activity”.

5. That most quick weight loss diets require a “drastic” change in eating patterns and that you cannot stay on them.

Look, I respect the American Heart Association and while I applaud most of what they have to say, they are wrong about the quick weight lost diets that are featured in this blog. Let me explain.

Take for example the Fat Burning Furnace diet (or, any of the diets featured in this blog). There is no emphasis on one particular type of food or food group. This is not the Cabbage Soup diet! With the Fat Burning Furnace diet you’ll be eating a vast variety of food that is delicious, balanced, and hearty to eat. Yes, you will enjoy eating. The difference between this diet and most diets, is that what you do eat will “tickle” your system into burning fat. And, burn fat all day long – while you watch TV, sleep, or eat.

Quick weight loss diets are not what they use to be. What the American Heart Association had to say about them may have been true just a few short years past, but it is not true about the new diets featured in this blog.
